In conjunction with the international theme, the festival will showcase monumental ice sculptures that will stand up to 20 feet tall and weigh as much as 30,000 pounds-each sculpture representing a region of the world.
For example, an intricate safari scene will represent Africa, a pair of colossal kangaroos in boxing stance will represent Australia and the Statue of Liberty will represent North America. These and additional sculptures depicting other areas of the world-Asia, South America and Europe-will be placed in front of an ornate backdrop.
The backdrop will create the look and feel of each region represented and will allow spectators to take a walk around the world. Come see the ice carving masters in action as they continually craft new international icons throughout the sixteen-day event.
