The Common Good Award, 2000

In 2000, Blake Roney, Nu Skin Enterprises' Chairman of the Board, was presented the Common Good Award by the Coalition for Utah's Future.

The Coalition created the Common Good Award in 1996 because it believes that "…there are values and actions participated in by organizations that benefit the community as a whole. The award recognizes and encourages organizations that exemplify those values and actions." The award was presented to Blake Roney by Lewis Billings, mayor of Provo. The mayor praised NSE for it's "civic mindedness" and cited several ways in which NSE has improve the lives of Provo's citizens. Mayor Billings also thanked Blake for his company's support of local collegiate athletics, the United Way and other social agencies, the National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Provo Foundation and the Marriott School of Management and the Center for Entrepreneurism at Brigham Young University.

This support has been in the form of loaned executives, donations in kind, and the use of NSE physical facilities in addition to monetary donations. The mayor concluded his remarks saying: "As mayor of Provo and on behalf of the citizens of Provo, I would like to add my appreciation to Blake Roney for his devotion to our city, for the donations of many kinds that he, his company and its employees have made over the last 16 years. The quality of life in Provo is better because of Nu Skin."
